Distribución, áreas de concentración y estructura de la población del bacalao austral (Salilota australis, Gunther 1887)del Atlántico Sudoccidental OceanDocs
Perez Comas, J.A..
The "bacalao austral" is a typical fish from the cold water of the Southwest Atlantic and the Southeastern Pacific oceans, whose fishery has not yet developed. In this work, the structure of the concentration areas of summer and winter distribution and other biological items were analyzed, basing on data provening from R/V"Walther Herwig" and R/V"Shinkai Maru", which operated in these waters during 1978/79/. The trophic vertical migrations are common in this species.

Donnees nouvelles sur le germon Thunnus alalunga Bonnaterre 1788 dans le Nord-Est Atlantic. 2eme partie. Les populations de germons Thunnus alalunga dans le Nord-Est Atlantique. ArchiMer
Aloncle, Henri; Delaporte, Francis.
In this, the 2nd part of a study of Thunnus alalunga in the north-east Atlantic, populations and migrations are considered. The term 'population' is defined. The utilization of H. fusca as a biological 'marker' is considered and tagging experiments are described. Modal classes are examined: summary analysis, detailed analysis of fisheries. Internal temps and regulation are studied. The types of watering are defined and described and a statistical analysis as a function of the watering is made. An attempt at synthesis is made: Azorian, standard. Migratory determinism is examined.

Early postlarval fish in the hyperbenthos of the Dutch Delta (south-west Netherlands) OMA
Beyst, B.; Mees, J.; Cattrijsse, A..
Early (post)larval fish constitute a significant part of the temporary hyperbenthos, i.e. of the fauna living in the lower reaches of the water column close to the substratum. Information on the densities and spatial and temporal variations of these stages, as well as on their lengths at the moment of occurrence, can be an important contribution to the knowledge of their dispersion, migrations and to the identification of possible bottlenecks in their recruitment. Therefore the hyperbenthos of the Voordelta, a shallow coastal zone in front of the Dutch Delta, as well as that of the subtidal channels and the intertidal brackish marsh creeks of the Westerschelde Estuary, was sampled monthly during one year by means of a sledge and a stow net. A total of 37...

Ecological distribution of Cyanophyceae in lotic ecosystems of São Paulo State Rev. Bras. Bot.
BRANCO,LUIS HENRIQUE Z.; NECCHI JÚNIOR,ORLANDO; BRANCO,CIRO CESAR Z..
A hundred seventy two stream reaches from six distinct natural regions (parts of biomes or geological areas) in São Paulo State (Atlantic Rainforest, Cerrado, Hard Water regions, Northwest region, Subtropical Rainforest, and Tropical Rainforest) were searched for the most representative macroscopic Cyanophyceae of phytobenthic communities. Selected ecological parameters were analyzed in each stream segment: conductance, current velocity, oxygen saturation, pH, turbidity, and water temperature. Algal abundance was evaluated as percentage cover. Thirthy four cyanophyte taxa were identified and Phormidium retzii was the most widespread species throughout the State, occurring in all studied regions, except in hard water areas, and was negatively correlated to...

Ecological distribution of the shrimp camarao serrinha Artemesia longinaris (Decapoda, Penaeidae) in Fortaleza bay, Ubatuba, Brazil, in relation to abiotic factors OceanDocs
Fransozo, A.; Costa, R.C.; Castilho, A.L.; Mantelatto, F.L..
The spatial and temporal distribution of the shrimp Artemesia longinaris in Fortaleza Bay, northern coast of Sao Paulo State, Brazil, in relation to abiotic factors, was studied. Shrimp samples were obtained on a monthly basis from November 1988 through October 1989 at seven pre-delimited transects on board of a fishing vessel supplied with double otter trawl nets. Depth was recorded at the midpoint of each transect; water and sediment samples were taken to measure salinity, temperature, texture and organic matter content of sediment. The shrimps obtained in the trawls were sorted, identified and 100 g subsample at each transect was separated for measurements (carapace length). A total of 3,083 individuals were obtained. Shrimps were more abundant from...

Esquema biogeográfico del Mar Argentino OceanDocs
Balech, E.; Ehrlich, M.D..
The fauna of the Argentine (SW Atlantic Ocean) shelf allows to distinguish two biogeographic provinces: the Argentine and the Magellanic that are part of the Subtropical and Subantarctic Regions. The former extends from 30° S-32° S to 41° S-44° S and from the coast to the 82-95 m isobath, between 35° S-39° S, to 70 m depth in the north Patagonia. The latter extends from the Valdés Peninsula to the southern extreme and from 43° S northward, east area of the Argentine Province. The different physiographic characteristics allow to distinguish movable sandy bottoms in the Argentine Province and in the Magellanic gravel bottoms where large algae grow. The climatic differences explain the prevalence of northern winds in the first, where warm and temperate-cold...

Spatial and temporal distribution and abundance of two species of Persephona (Decapoda: Brachyura: Leucosiidae) on the southern coast of the state of São Paulo, Brazil Biota Neotropica
Perroca,Júlia Fernandes; Herrera,Daphine Ramiro; Costa,Rogerio Caetano da.
Abstract: Crabs of the genus Persephona are intensely captured in shrimp fisheries as bycatch in the Cananéia region off the coast of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The analysis of the spatial and temporal distribution of Persephona punctata and Persephona mediterranea could provide information about variation in the abundance of these species, as well as the environmental variables affecting their distribution and the existence of a possible habitat partitioning. Using a shrimp fishery boat equipped with double-rig nets, crabs were monthly captured from July 2012 to June 2014 in seven sites: four in the coastal area adjacent to the Cananéia region and three in the Mar Pequeno estuarine area. The abundances of both species were compared according to...
